ECO TOC - Sustainability, green operations & energy efficiency

Public sentiment, international policy, government legislation and sheer good business practice are converging to catapult sustainability and green operations up the corporate agenda. Launching at TOC CSC Asia 2012, ECO TOC will provide focused seminars and debates on sustainability issues across the container supply chain. Get the latest insights into cargo owner strategies, what green means for logistics planning and execution, and how shipping, ports and terminals are addressing the issues.
From procurement to delivery, major retail brands and manufacturers are embedding sustainability goals and metrics into their supply chain operations, and seeking support from their providers of international logistics, shipping and transport services. Shipping is under ever-increasing international pressure to adopt new solutions and technologies that will reduce fossil fuel emissions and other pollutants. Ports and terminals, as a nexus of activity in international maritime transport chains, are equally challenged to reduce the interlinked environmental and social impact of their operations. ECO TOC sessions at TOC CSC Asia 2012 will explore new thinking, approaches and technologies to rise to the sustainability challenge.
10:00-12:00 | ENERGY & ENVIRONMENTAL EFFICIENCY: NEW THINKING & TECHNOLOGIES AT THE CONTAINER TERMINAL
How can container terminals reduce their dependency on fossil fuels to deliver cleaner, more energy-efficient cargo handling operations with lower energy bills, less impact on surrounding communities and a smaller carbon footprint?
Key Issues:
