Total Soft Bank’s implements CATOS at Port of Gothenburg

Total Soft Bank (stand E8) will be displaying and demonstrating a range of products for terminal operators and shipping lines at TOC Asia 2010 including the Computer Automated Terminal Operation System (CATOS) which the Port Of Gothenburg has recently implemented.

The Port of Gothenburg is the largest container port in the Nordic region and achieved 862,500 TEUs last year. Total Soft Bank delivered the latest version of CATOS with advanced functions such as real time grounding and dispatching and equipment pooling. Its web application interface provides fast and accurate work process and intelligent decision making throughout terminal operation and management. A week after the implementation of CATOS, the Port of Gothenburg hit 137 moves per hour at its peak.

Prysmian develops brand new intelligent reeling cable

Prysmian Cable & System recently welcomed more than 200 people from 26 countries to its third Special Cable Conference in Coburg, Germany. At the conference, the company introduced the industry’s first intelligent reeling cable, PROTOLON iQ, to an audience of specialists.

The new system is able to feel and communicate its current condition, similar to the onboard computer in modern day cars which informs the driver when irregularities have been detected. This new technology is for use with large and costly machinery such as reach stackers or container cranes. Unexpected downtimes on these machines are the extremely costly to terminal operators, PROTOLON iQ increases reliability, availability and provides information to alert operators as to when the cable is ready for change.

Tecis helps operators weigh boxes quickly

tecis will be showcasing its range of products at this year’s TOC Asia. The company offers complete solutions for overload protection of cranes and other lifting devices.

Representatives will be on hand to showcase the company’s new load pins, type F5308, which can be integrated directly into existing machines, replacing, for example, an existing bolt in a crane’s fork bearings. Sensitive parts like connectors and electronics are protected against mechanical damage and can therefore be used in very rough environments such as harbour cranes.

Cavotec MSL technology to be utilised at Port Hedland

This year, Cavotec MSL is to supply a range of advanced cable reel, control and steel chain technologies to the ThyssenKrupp group for installation on iron ore ship-loaders at Port Hedland in Western Australia.

The equipment is set for delivery to China this year for subsequent installation on four new iron ore ship-loaders at Port Hedland. The deal includes cable and hose reelers, Brieda operator cabins and consoles, Cavotec Micro-control radio remote control systems and Brevetti steel slew chains. The radio remote control units are FieldBus enabled, allowing for direct interface with the machine control system.

Realtime Business Solutions are TOPS of the class

Realtime Business Solutions (RBS) will be showcasing the company’s TOPS package at TOC Asia on stand B6

Weyenberg Group launches new venture

The Weyenberg Group has recently launched a new leasing and rental service, WeyLease International Ltd., which will be based in Hong Kong.

WeyLease International offers customers across Asia, Australia and New Zealand, financial or operational leasing services for material handling equipment. The company specialises in Ship-To-Shore cranes as well as related equipment such as RTGs / RMGCs. In addition to this, leasing services for FLT's, Reach-Stackers and Container Trailers are also be provided by the company.

Cyberlogitec help Hanjin New Port Company increase productivity

CyberLogitec has recently completed the implementation of its new terminal management system, OPUS Terminal, at Hanjin New Port Company terminal (HJNC) in Korea.

As a result HJNC was able to operate round the clock, 24 hours a day making its productivity an amazing 12% higher than other terminals.

OPUS Terminal has adopted the latest RFID techn9logy to increase its data accuracy and can provide 100% recognition rate of RFID tags by using a three-point tag reading system installed at block entrance, ARMGC frame, and on yard supervisor vehicles.

The LHM 280 has set new standards in efficiency, reliability and innovation. The crane’s flexibility makes it a universal all-rounder and key asset for handling everything from containers and general cargo to bulk solids.
